Artist Statement
My art is about color and how we experience life through it, and how sometimes it takes living without it to truly see it again. I experiment painting with expressive colors that resonate with how I connect with the world around me and to reflect the energy of life and the emotions that shape the way we move through the world. I paint the things that inspire me, bring me joy, or have made me feel something, with the hope that they will resonate with others in their own unique way. Whether on canvas or wearable art, my work is an invitation to bring color into everyday life.
About My Process
Every piece is handcrafted by me, from the first brushstroke to the finished work. I paint using traditional artist materials on canvas, wood, hats, earrings, and other unconventional surfaces. Alongside my original paintings, I create wearable art and functional pieces, including mugs, bags, and apparel, all inspired by my own artwork.
Whether I am priming a hat and painting directly onto its surface or sewing a hand-primed and painted piece of canvas onto a hat, every piece is individually created and one of a kind. I carefully select high-quality products that align with my values for thoughtful textile production, intentionally pairing colors and materials so each finished piece feels cohesive and true to the original artwork.
Every piece begins with something that speaks to me. The subjects I paint are often the things that bring me joy, spark curiosity, or simply make me feel something. My hope is that those same pieces will resonate with you in your own unique way and become something that is not only admired, but worn, used, loved, and treasured for years to come.
Commission a Piece
Commissioning a piece of art through me means the world to me, just as much as what you’re asking me to paint means to you. I’m deeply grateful for every person who feels connected to my work enough to trust me with what’s so meaningful to you.
I don’t create within a fast-paced, quick-turnaround mindset that our world is so accustomed to. My work is intentional, slow, and rooted in presence. A small commissioned painting on a hat usually takes months to complete. Even though it’s tiny, a great deal of time, detail, and energy goes into it. Every painting requires many hours of work, and the larger the piece, the longer it will take.
I also balance a full-time career outside of my art, and two dogs who deserve my attention. Because of these reasons, I will never rush a commission and want to make sure everyone who commissions through me understands just how long it may take.
Cost will be discussed upfront and reflects not only the time and materials, but the complexity of the request and individuality of the artwork you are investing in.
